The opening program kicks off a month-long slate of events inspired by this year’s CCReads book, Dodie Smith’s classic children’s novel, “The Hundred and One Dalmatians,” published in 1956 and the inspiration for numerous animated and live-action screen adaptations.

Smokey Bear Birthday Bash

Celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday with the New Vienna Library (114 W. Main St. New Vienna, OH). We will be holding a birthday bash for Smokey during our regularly scheduled storytimes next week and on Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 AM. You must register your child to attend the party on Saturday so that we will have enough party supplies on hand. To register, call the New Vienna Library at 937-987-4200.

Newspaper Archive Database

Patrons can now use their library card to access a new online database that the library has added to our services. The newspaper database, created by Newspaper Archive allows viewers to search thru a huge collection of newspapers from the 1700s-2000s. Our library has been able to afford to give patrons free access to all the Ohio newspapers that are part of this database

New Vienna Library Honors Uibles

The plaque, which reads “In Appreciation of Harold and Jean Uible – Their love of reading and their dedication to this community helped build the New Vienna Library”, now hangs adjacent to the circulation desk.
